Invisible, the angels Damiel and Cassiel acquaint themselves with the inhabitants of Berlin, whose innermost thoughts they can hear. In the circus, Damiel watches the trapeze artist Marion. The angels visit a film location, where Peter Falk is starring in a movie. Falk senses Damiel's presence; he speaks to him, recommending the joys of senses. Damiel tells Cassiel that he has decided to become human and he enters the material world. Peter Falk reveals that he, too, is a former angel. Damiel joins Marion in a rock club, where Nick Cave performs. She speaks a monologue before surrendering to Damiel's kiss. Cassiel watches as they begin their life together
