Stanimir Trifonov’s "Prez salzi" to premiere at the 20th Sofia International Film Festival

The special presentation of the film about the Armenian genocide to open festival screenings at the Cinema House on 1st March

"Prez salzi" is a still portrait of the emotional state of Armenians in Bulgaria today. Their stories are about the foundations of man and people, pressing issues in the light of recent events.

The film is a contemporary interpretation of one of world history’s most gruesome moments – the extermination of on and a half million Christian Armenians by order of the Young Turks regime in 1915. Today the descendants of the victims live like everybody else – they have families, jobs, a social and professional life… But time has not erased the family memory of severed roots.

Stanimir Trifonov’s crew is composed of writer Svetla Hristova, director of photography is Kiril Prodanov and producer Plamen Yordanov. The project’s main consultant is Anihad Azhderian.

Director Stanimir Trifonov was born in Veliko Tarnovo in 1958. He graduated Bulgarian Literature at Veliko Tarnovo Cyril and Methodius University and then Film Directing at the Krastyo Sarafov National Academy of Theatre and Film Art in 1986. In 2003 he became associate professor of film and television directing and in 2008 he became a full professor. He teaches at Neofit Rilski South-Western University and New Bulgaria University. He’s won national and international awards as producer and director of television series, feature and documentary films including Battue for Wolves (2000), Izpepelyavane (2004) and The Glass River (2010).

The documentary film "Prez salzi" will premiere Tuesday, 1st March 2016 at 20:00 at the Cinema House!
